Desmond Tutu stated that yes, if his family were murdered, he would wish for the death penalty for the assailant. However, he would recognize that as a wish for revenge not justice, this complicated penalty has provide a huge split in public opinion. Let us examine the facts, statistics and moral issues in a discussion following the truths as presented.
