Description
Mehri Danielpour is an internationally known sculptor living in West Palm Beach. The many commissioned portrait busts she has created over the years include the Shah of Iran, Empress Farah, President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and baseball Hall of Famer, Henry "Hank'' Aaron. More recently she was commissioned to make bronze busts for designer and clothing manufacturer Tommy Hilfiger's wife and their son. Born in Iran, Mehri came to the United States as a young child when her Jewish family had to flee amid rumors of a Nazi invasion there. Her love for sculpture began years ago as a hobby, butturned into a full-fledged career after the death of her husband and the need to support her two young children. "I worked my tail off,'' she said. Approaching her 80th birthday, Mehri is still at work in her home studio. Her Year of the Child bronze sculpture, stands seven feet high and is on display in West Palm Beach. She says, "When your work is your passion, it's really not work at all."
