There are those who insist that the United States was intended to be a Christian nation. This belief in a political Christian nation, also known as Christian Nationalism, is as old as the country itself. The myth continues today, in spite of contrary indications in our sole governing document, The United States Constitution (which was originally called “The Godless Constitution” when it was considered for ratification).
