Growing Together Baby and Me w/ Miss Christi
It’s an art class without tables, a music class without reading notes, and a sensory workshop to introduce youngsters to the wonderment of touching, feeling, hearing and growing. Taught by the up-beat, out-of-the-box, forward-thinking teacher Miss Christi, the Mandel JCC’s Growing Together Baby & Me Class is gearing up for another year of explorative fun and educational growth! Classes prepare children for:
- Art & Sensory Exploration: Painting with their fingers, feet and even Legos are just some of the process-based art activities children will participate in. While stimulating creativity and fine motor skills, sensory exploration also encourages children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate, and discover.
- Musical Development: Babies are inherently musical and naturally sing the musical note of “Doh.” So, Miss Christi focuses on introducing songs that hone in on their abilities and the few sounds that they know how to make, yet the songs are actually teaching the children how to associate words with sounds.
- School Readiness & Socialization: By putting the child in a classroom at such a young age, you are helping them become more comfortable with routine, structure, transitions and playing and sharing with other children. By participating in this new adventure with them, you are providing them with a comfortable and safe place for them to be themselves.
- Schema Building: Especially in the very beginning, everything a child sees or touches is a learning experience. For instance, if a child sees a ball for the first time and they don’t know what it is, by playing with it and getting to know the object, they will be able to associate all things that look like a ball must have the same features- i.e. the ability to roll or bounce. These skills and building blocks of knowledge will support these children in their future development.
