Description
What is Dopamine and What Does it Do?
In the brain, dopamine functions as a neurotransmitter--a chemical released by neurons (nerve cells). The brain includes several distinct dopamine pathways, one of which plays a major role in the motivational component of reward-motivated behavior. Often called “the motivational molecule”, dopamine provides the drive and focus you need to be productive. It is heavily involved with attention span. This class will discuss and answer questions regarding the status of dopamine in humans and its failures due to the lack thereof.
